More details on the Astro photos:

1) Fighting Dragons of Ara

Fighting Dragons of Ara - 2011 Astronomy Photographer of the Year Photo Gallery by strongmanmike2002 at pbase.com

Powerful emissions of light and matter from hot young stars are able to heat up and shape the clouds of gas and dust from which they form. The ‘Dragons’ in this photograph have been shaped by the recent birth of stars much bigger and brighter than our Sun. One such massive star can be seen in the lower left of the image within two shells of expanding glowing gas. The structures visible in this image are some 4000 light years away and are located in the plain of our Milky Way galaxy, visible between the well-known constellations of Crux (The Southern Cross) and Scorpius (The Scorpion).

2) Lionel Murphy Nebula

N86 The Lionel Murphy Nebula Photo Gallery by strongmanmike2002 at pbase.com

Taken over 4 nights between 3 Nov and 12 Nov 2016 in variable seeing, the nitrogen-abundant supernova remnant N86 in the Large Magellanic Cloud was named Lionel Murphy Nebula by astronomers at the Australian National University's Mount Stromlo Observatory.

This was in acknowledgement of Australian High Court Justice and Labor politician Lionel Murphy because of his interest in science and because of its striking resemblance to his large nose, eyes and thick eyebrows.
