Beauty for Ashes: Lamenting Lost Dreams

Discover the ancient art of lament

Life is filled with its share of ups and downs. Sometimes when we have faced the loss of dreams, particularly the loss of the dream of having a child or a partner, or sometimes loss of country, it is hard to 'just move on'.

Over the centuries, lament writing has been a tool through which generations of people have put their frustrations, heartache and grief on paper, and placing them on the road towards freedom. Whether you choose to join us for a once-off session or you would like to commit for four months, you will experience the beauty of how lament writing engages all the senses, your inner creativity, and also the land upon which you do this workshop.

Once we have practiced our lament writing skills, you will have the opportunity to express in the form of sketches. You don't have to be a great poet, writer or artist to take part in this workshop. All that's needed is a willingness to explore the practice of lament, and be open to those around you. Within the safe space of the Art House, you will have the opportunity to turn your feelings of loss, frustration, disappointment, and unmet expectations into something positive.

All materials as well as afternoon tea provided.

Join Erika von Kaschke and other like-minded people who would like to swap the ashes of their dreams for beauty, as you learn how to lament.

This session is inclusive, interactive, and promotes discussions regarding loss, world view, and difference. Tolerance of other world views is required.
