Become a Justice of the Peace: Online workshop for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers
Event description
Join us for an online lunchtime workshop designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers in legal assistance organisations – especially non-legal workers! – who are interested in becoming a Justice of the Peace (JP).
Date: Wednesday 30 July
Time: 12:30pm – 1:30pm AEST
Location: Online
This session will be run by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and will cover what a JP does, the benefits of becoming a JP, and take you through the steps involved in the appointment process in NSW. It's a great opportunity to build skills, increase access to justice in your community, and take on a respected role in the legal system.
All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers in the legal assistance sector are welcome to attend.
Important note: In order to attend this session to be appointed as a JP, you will need to provide the Department of Communities and Justice with a scanned copy of an identification document. Please email your birth certificate, passport, or driver's licence to jp@dcj.nsw.gov.au If you require further assistance with this, please contact the DCJ JP team on 8688 0500 or at jp@dcj.nsw.gov.au.
