    Keynote speaker

    Jane Nethery is the Early Talent Manager at Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese, where she leads strategies to attract, develop, and retain early career teachers. With extensive experience in shaping the next generation of educators, Jane will provide valuable insights into career options for those entering teaching, whether as a first choice or as a career change. She will also discuss the future of teacher education in Australia, focusing on the development and support of early career teachers.

    A representative from Teach NSW
    will provide an overview of the teaching profession in today’s landscape, highlighting the essential skills required to become a teacher in New South Wales, key opportunities and challenges within the profession, and the various pathways to launching a successful teaching career. Don't miss this valuable opportunity to gain important insights into the profession and connect with others in the field.

    Panellists

    Dr. Mun Yee Lai, Course Director of Master of Teaching in Primary Education at UTS. With extensive experience in mathematics education, she has contributed significantly to both primary and secondary levels in Australia and Hong Kong. Her research focuses on teacher professional development, mathematics education across cultures, and STEM education. In this session, Dr. Mun Yee will present the Primary Education program at UTS, highlighting how it equips future educators with the skills needed for effective teaching in primary schools.

    Dr. Keith Heggart
    is the Course Director for the Master of Teaching in Secondary Education and the acting Director of the Centre for Research on Education in a Digital Society (CREDS). With extensive experience as a high school educator and leadership roles in both government and non-government schools in the UK and Australia, Dr. Heggart brings valuable insights into secondary education. Recently appointed to the NSW Parliament Education Advisory Group, he plays a key role in shaping discussions around civics education. In this session, Dr. Heggart will present the Secondary Education program at UTS, discussing how it prepares future teachers to navigate the evolving landscape of secondary education and make a meaningful impact on the next generation of students.
     

    George Rahal is the Leader of Wellbeing at St Vincent’s College Ashfield, where he supports students' academic and personal growth. He completed a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education at UTS, followed by a Graduate Certificate in STEM Education from Western Sydney University. With five years of experience teaching Stage 6 Biology, George has a strong background in Science and STEM education. In this session, George will share personal reflections from his time at UTS and highlight key moments from his career.
