As the spread of Varroa mite continues to reshape the landscape for bees and pollination in Australia, understanding its potential long-term impacts is critical.

In this free Bee Friendly Farming webinar, industry experts will discuss Rabobank’s new report, How Varroa mites might impact Australian pollinators.  Hosted by Wheen Bee Foundation CEO Fiona Chambers, the session will explore how the 2022 Varroa incursion may affect managed and wild honey bees and what this means for Australian agriculture and food systems.

Speaker #1 - Stefan Vogel, Rabobank Australia

Stefan

Stefan is the General Manager of RaboResearch Australia & New Zealand at Rabobank. Stefan has more than 20 years of global agribusiness experience and is a leading expert in agricultural markets and food supply chains. Prior to joining Rabobank in Australia, he served as Head of Agri Commodities Markets Research at Rabobank’s London office. 


Speaker #2 - Danny Le Feuvre, AHBIC

Danny is CEO of the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council, the national peak body for beekeepers. Danny has been a commercial beekeeper for 15 years, providing pollination services in South Australia and is the Founding Director of Australian Bee Services. He is currently a Director of AgriFutures Australia and a member of the Hort Innovation Expert Advisory Panel. He is also currently Deputy Chair of AgriFutures Australia and a director of the Australian Manuka Honey Association.



Speaker #3 - Tim Jackson, Almond Board of Australia

Tim Jackson

Tim Jackson is CEO of the Almond Board of Australia. Pollination is a core component the almond industry and strengthening a collaborative relationship with the nation’s beekeepers is a key focus for Tim and the Almond Board. Tim is also a member of the Mallee Regional Innovation Centre's Strategic Advisory Panel, contributing to research and innovation in the horticulture sector.
