Bee the change

Bee the Change is an interactive, hands-on workshop inviting participants to explore the fascinating world of Australia’s native bees and take practical action for biodiversity. Led by native bee nerd and environmental educator Clancy Lester (@beesandblossoms.aus), this activity connects ecological science with creative sustainability through the making of bee hotels — nesting habitats designed to support solitary native bees.

Participants will learn about the vital role of native pollinators in Australian ecosystems, the differences between native bees and honeybees, and how small-scale conservation actions can have big ecological impacts. Using recycled and sustainably sourced materials, each attendee will build and take home their own native bee hotel, ready to install in a backyard, balcony, or community garden.
