Beefheart & McQuinn is the new project from UK artist Moby Beefheart aka William Murray (formerly of UK outfit Fur) and Melbourne/Naarm musician Winter McQuinn (Sunfruits, jadeimagine). Coming together after a chanced coffee meet up, the musical connection between the two artists is palpable. Sharing a love for the folk and rock sounds of yesteryear without pastiche obsession, Beefheart & McQuinn make contemporary psychedelic folk/softrock, a rich sonic tapestry of vocal harmony blends and deft musicianship/production.

Both Winter McQuinn & William Murray have successful and meaningful careers as emerging songwriters/performers in their own right. Both have released multiple albums with respective bands and have toured internationally 2021-2025 across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, UK and the US including Falls Festival, Bigsound, Reading & Leeds Festival, Manchester Psych Festival, Great Escape, praised by tastemakers including TheGuardian, Clash, triplej, Rolling Stone and New Commute.

This first offering ‘Hand In Hand’ is a Joniesque song about the effect of a busy working life in a new place coupled with the feeling of isolation and anxiety that the modern world’s political landscape can engender. Written by Moby, recorded in McQuinns home studio (where they record all their music) the song features beautifully deft, syncopated waterfall guitar playing and vocals with tasteful percussion and harmonies drifting in and out of focus.

Pearces Creek Hall is on Widjabul Wiabul Country of the Bundjalung Nation.

Pearces Creek Hall is located 5 minutes to the east of The Eltham Hotel, 15-20 minutes drive from Bangalow, Clunes, Alstonville and Lismore.
