Bees, bugs and beetles in Bega: Small insects, big impact

Join South East Local Land Services, Far South Coast Landcare Association, Far South Coast Conservation Management Network and a range of insect experts at this one-day seminar to learn about pollinators, native bees, honey bees, and insect declines.

Event details:           

Come along to learn from a range of experts in their fields about pollinators, native bees, honey bees, and insect declines.

Speakers include:

• Clancy Lester – The “Bee Man”. A passionate environmental educator who specialises in native bee conservation and runs Bees and Blossoms Education.

• Professor Saul Cunningham – Director of the Fenner School of Environment and Society at ANU. Extensive research on crop pollination and wild pollinators that perform this important function.

• Melissa McKendrick – Based in Kalkite in the Snowy Mountains. Honey bee keeper, native bee and gardening enthusiast. Passionate about all of our pollinators including birds, bees and bugs.

• Chantel Benbow – Plant Biosecurity Coordinator with South East Local Land Services.

• Roger Farrow – Professional entomologist who spent 25 years working for CSIRO studying locusts, insect migration and plant-feeding insects. Author of ‘Insects of South Eastern Australia: an ecological and behavioural guide’.

• Dr Anthony Rice – Dr Anthony Rice – Insect Ecologist and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Consultant. 25 years working in plant health and 15 years of experience working with primary producers to improve IPM uptake.
