Mon, 24 Mar, 6:15pm - 7:30pm AEDT

Event description

If you've picked up the humble ukelele before, you'll likely be familiar with strumming. It's the simplest way to produce smooth chords. Many people sing and accompany themselves on the ukelele simply by strumming along.

But did you know there are more options?

Strumming is fun but fingerpicking is way more interesting! As an alternative to strumming, fingerpicking reveals a chord in different ways - note by note, rather than the all-at-once of strumming - which is interesting musically AND for our fingers and brains!

This fun class welcomes brand new players and established strummers - all are welcome.

What will we cover?

In this hands-on class you will:

  • Learn how to tune the ukulele.
  • Learn how to make basic chord shapes
  • Learn to pick your strings
  • Learn chord picking patterns, playing one string at a time
  • Play along with the class - putting lessons into action!

What will you need for this class?

    • The ZOOM meeting platform on your computer, mobile or tablet device.
    • Pen and paper or your preferred note taking device
    • A ukulele!
    • Either an electronic tuner or a smart phone with a tuning app (I recommend the Kala Ukulele App. It’s free and useful)
