Event description

This beginners course is designed to introduce you to the basics of improvised theatre in a fun and friendly environment.

What does our course involve?

Over the course of the 6 weeks, participants will be gradually introduced to performing Theatresports games and scenes, and will learn to hit the stage with confidence and playfulness.

The classes are suitable for anyone interested in performing impro, as well as those interested in improving their public speaking and creativity or expanding their theatrical toolbox.

You will learn techniques to:

  • Trust your creative impulse
  • Be present and in the moment
  • Accept and build on ideas
  • Embrace failure

All participants will be invited to demonstrate their skills at a graduation show at the end of the workshop.

Dates: 2 August - 6 September 2025

Time: Saturdays, 2-5pm

Location: The Exchange, 81 Musk Avenue, Kelvin Grove

Age requirements

Our classes are primarily aimed at adults. If you are under 18, let us know and we will discuss if you can attend the class.

Your teachers 

Natalie Bochenski


Natalie Bochenski a past President and Artistic Director of Improv QLD, back when it was known as ImproMafia. A 20-year veteran improviser, she has produced and performed in some of the company’s key theatrical works including Prognosis: Death!, Agatha Holmes, and Fists of Fury. Natalie helped produce two Theatresports Championships at the Brisbane Powerhouse (2013/2014) and spearheaded The Pineapple Club, ImproMafia’s first outing as part of the Brisbane Comedy Festival (2014/2015). Natalie also runs Act React, which specialises in pop-culture inspired theatre and comedy.

Glenn Seaby


Glenn’s foray into improv began in 2015 with an improv class. Since then he has been fully immersed in the artform regularly performing with Improv Queensland and Big Fork Theatre. Glenn has performed at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Brisbane Comedy Festival, the Anywhere Festival, the Brisbane Improv Festival, the Auckland Improv Festival and Bris Funnyfest. Shows and formats he has helped create include Around the Campfire (An Anywhere Festival People’s Choice winner), The Boring Show, Ho Hum Musical Improv and Blokes.
