Event description

Learn to sew in this fun Saturday four-week beginners sewing class with a twist, open to adults and teens.  Learn all the basics of sewing AND how to do it using a zero waste/upcycled ethos.  


You will learn how to confidently use a sewing machine; repurpose fabric and read patterns with our awesome sewing teacher, Magda.

Week 1 - Getting to know your sewing machine.

Week 2 - Making a bag - sewing straight lines, finishing seams, sewing for strength versus sewing for aesthetics

Week 3 - Making a zipped case (pencil case, laptop case, coin purse) - using zipper foot, and learning how to sew zips

Week 4 - Making a bib or a placemat - sewing curves, working with patterns, discussing types of fabric.

 

When: Every Saturday from 27 July to 17 August, 9.30 am - 12 pm
