Beginning Birding by Sight and Sound with Robin Roberts
Event description
Join Robin Roberts on this exploration of birds of Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, a renowned venue with over 200 recorded species of birds.
This 3 -hour introductory class is designed for the beginning birder who has a desire to become better equipped to identify birds by their visual appearance, behavior, foraging techniques, habitat location, and auditory clues. The key species that we will focus on are resident and migratory birds that pass through Big Morongo Canyon Preserve.
The first 2-hours of the class will be devoted to understanding our connections to birds, developing skills in identifying them, and learning how our observations can assist researchers.
The last hour will be spent walking around the preserve observing and listening to the birdsongs that surrounds us.
Class size is limited to eight participants. This class will be conducted on a Friday so that there will be more access to the bird feeding station.
