Event description

The Melbourne Centre for Behaviour Change (MCBC) is excited to host its one day conference - Behaviour Change: Insights and Innovations. This conference is ideal for leaders, practitioners, or anyone interested in discovering new ways to engage, energise, and influence behaviour—whether you’re looking to drive change or simply curious about the science of human behaviour.

The 2025 conference will comprise a keynote talk and masterclasses delivered by national and international experts. The conference agenda is being thoughtfully designed to provide attendees with the latest insights and innovations in behaviour change. Please note that the full program is still being confirmed, and we will share more details soon.

The MCBC conference will feature Dr Juliette Tobias-Webb as keynote speaker. Dr Juliette Tobias-Webb is one of Australia's leading behavioural scientists. She has a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Cambridge University and has since worked for a range of government and corporate organisations to explore human decision-making and behaviour change, helping teams and companies leverage behavioural insights to drive positive transformation at scale.

As a founder of a behavioural science consultancy, Juliette collaborates with industry leaders such as Mastercard, Citibank, Insurance Australia Group, Atlassian, and Deloitte. She is also a Professor of Practice in Behavioural Science at the AI and Cyber Futures Institute and an award-winning lecturer for business and executive leaders. She has held significant roles, including a Senior Manager in Behavioural Science for Commonwealth Bank and the Behaviour Change Lead for Ogilvy Australia. Her contributions extend to publications in leading neuroscience and psychology journals, and she has been featured in various media outlets, including Triple J Hack, ABC, and the Australian Financial Review.

Dr Juliette has been recognised for her exceptional contributions to the field, being one of 60 women in Australia nominated as a Superstar of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths), and being selected as one of 100 women in STEM to explore Antarctica.

Title: Behaviour by Design: Small shifts catalyse change

Brief: Behaviour by Design offers a fresh, innovative approach to large-scale behaviour change by shifting the focus from trying to change minds to redesigning the environment itself. In this keynote, we’ll explore how we make decisions, why we behave the way we do, and, most importantly, how we can influence change.

Through practical, evidence-based activities, you’ll gain actionable insights that are immediately applicable in any professional setting. These strategies will help you create environments that empower and engage people, strengthen leadership, and improve organisational and societal outcomes.

An early bird discounted price has been applied to conference tickets and will cost $100 (regular price $150). Student ticket price is $50. Please bring proof of student status for verification on arrival at the conference. Please note, the early bird discount will only be available until 5 January 2025.

Consistent with the values of the MCBC, registration is unavailable to those who have received support from or provided support to the following harmful industries: tobacco and vaping, alcohol, junk food, sugary drink, gambling, and fossil fuel.
