'Rainforest Warriors - the hippies were right’ was launched on Saturday August 10 at the Byron Writers Festival.

Received well & selling well at Gleebooks and bookshops in the Northern Rivers.

We are bringing this important book to Bellingen.

The book is a social, cultural and environmental history of the Byron Hinterland.

It focuses on the forest blockades in the Byron hinterland back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, their extraordinary impact and the pre-conditions required to trigger these blockades.

These preconditions were the surge in the counter-culture back then, the Aquarius Festival in Nimbin, the back-to-earthers and the creation of almost 100 communes.

The book is rich in photographs.

In short, it’s about the arrival of thousands of hippies and the injection of activism into the region. This activism remains strong today.
For more information see rainforestwarriors.net

Rainforest Warriors will be in the next Australian Financial Review monthly magazine and also in the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Weekend magazine shortly.

Followed by a short talk on Tuckers Nob by Friends of Tuckers Nob
