Bellingen-Nambucca Sustainable Schools Network: Term 1, 2025 Meeting and Grant Writing Workshop
Event description
Term 1: Unlocking Potential: Grants and Resources for Education
When: 18 March, 4-6.30pm
Where: Repton Public School, River St, Repton NSW 2454
For our first meeting of 2025, we will be exploring the opportunities and resources available to local schools and centres to support you to grow your sustainable project from an inspired idea to a thriving success! You'll learn how to write a successful grant application, create impactful projects and be inspired by a local case study showcasing how a grant transformed student learning and sustainability efforts.
Grant Writing Workshop (Anna Juodvalkis, Ozgreen)
Discover the opportunities for funding in this empowering Grant Writing workshop, where you’ll learn essential skills to plan and write effective grant applications, to gain funding for sustainable projects. Anna's extensive background as the Grants Officer for Bellingen Shire Council and facilitating grant writing workshops will be invaluable to helping you sharpen your skills. Anna has tailored the workshop to local educators and will share her grant writing formula and demonstrate, step by step, how to secure a grant for your project.
Inspiring tour of a grant-funded Aquaponics project (Hosted by Repton Public School)
Repton Public School staff will give us an inspiring tour and insights into their grant-funded aquaponics system. This is a method of growing food that combines aquaculture (the practice of raising fish) and hydroponics (a soilless way of growing plants), in a closed loop system whereby the nutrient-rich aquaculture water is used to produce vegetables and herbs, that uses 90 percent less water than a traditional agricultural system.
Local initiatives, events and story sharing
The workshop and discussion will be followed by a meeting to connect with other local educators and hear about sustainability initiatives in the region. Through sharing, we'll leave empowered with inspiration and practical skills to dive into exciting projects which integrate meaningful learning and sustainable action.
Warm drinks and delicious afternoon tea will be provided.
