Bellthorpe Forest Walking Tour with Susie Duncan
Event description
Join Ecologist Susie Duncan and Hinterland Bush Links for a captivating ecological walk that will lead us through some of the most stunning natural environments, including rare old-growth eucalypt forests and lush rainforests. As we journey through these diverse ecosystems, we'll encounter flowing creeks, which, in the warmth of Spring, are likely to be bustling with life. Keep an eye out for birds, as many species will be actively nesting during this season, filling the air with their calls and creating a vibrant backdrop for our walk. Reptiles will also be emerging, basking in the sun as they become more active in the warmer weather, offering us a chance to observe these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat.
The walk covers approximately 4 kilometers and features a mix of moderate to steep hills, providing a rewarding challenge for those who enjoy a bit of adventure. Along the way, we'll take a short side trail that leads to a picturesque waterfall and a serene swimming hole, perfect for a refreshing dip amidst the rainforest's tranquility.
Be sure to bring your lunch and plenty of water to stay hydrated. If you're a bird enthusiast, don't forget your binoculars—there will be plenty of opportunities for birdwatching. And if you plan to take a swim, pack your swimming gear. Remember to be sun-safe by wearing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, and ensure you have sturdy walking boots to comfortably navigate the terrain. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, discover new sights, and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
