Belly Dance x Mental Health - A Community Gathering
Event description
Join us for a nourishing afternoon dedicated to exploring the deep and often unseen connection between belly dance and mental health.
Facilitated by Ellie Taylor and Fernanda Reschke - both dance teachers and mental health professionals - this event will open space to explore the emotional and psychological dimensions of belly dance: its benefits, its challenges, and the complex ways it can affect our mental health. We’ll share findings from our ongoing research and invite you into a warm, reflective discussion on how dance can support wellbeing - and, at times, also bring to the surface difficult internal experiences that deserve care and attention.
This event is open to dancers, students, teachers, and anyone curious about the healing potential of this art form. This conversation began at the Australian Belly Dance Convention in Berry last year, and we're coming together to build on this important conversation with the broader community.
What’s Included:
– A presentation of research into belly dance and mental health
– Guided reflections and facilitated discussion
– Time for sharing in a supportive, non-judgmental space
– Tea, baklava, and beautiful company
