GLOBAL JEWISH OT NETWORK: WHO ARE WE?
Whether our Jewish identity was previously central or marginal to our professional identity, the aftermath of October 7 has changed the way many of us feel and perceive ourselves in the professional world. Rising antisemitism has seeped into our professional spaces, workplaces, and classrooms. B’Yachad: a Global Jewish Occupational Therapy Network was founded in response to this new reality. Our vision is to be a meeting place for occupational therapy students and professionals, who identify as Jewish, Israeli or as allies, to find advocacy, mutual support, and representation. We are still in early stages of building the network and invite anyone who is interested in getting involved, to reach out: www.jewishotnetwork.org info@jewishotnetwork.org
Advocating for two professional colleagues, Carmel Gat and Keith Siegel, taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, is also a key part of who we are. Carmel’s execution, after 331 days of captivity, rocked us all to the core. The continued captivity of Keith Seigel, a retired OT, and another one hundred men, women and children (some of whom are known to be dead), causes us great distress. We will not stop fighting to make their plight known and bring their light to this world.
