Benefit Concert: Emergency Aid for Gaza

On 07 April, Make Freedom Ring presents a benefit concert in partnership with medico international, fundriasing for the provision of emergency aid in Gaza.

We are delighted to announce the appearances of Begüm Aslan, Michael Barenboim, Deborah Feldman, Kristin von der Goltz, Zura Gvantseladze, Alena Jabarine, Johannes König, Luminosa Vokalensemble, Nasmé Ensemble, Veriko Tchumburidze, Ingolf Turban and others.

Proceeds for this event will go towards medico international. These concerts has been produced by a loose collective of musicians and culture workers across London, Berlin, Lisbon, and Barcelona. You can find us on Instagram @makefreedomring2024 and at makefreedomring.co.uk.

Background

In 2024, on March 8 in London and March 10 in Berlin, the group Make Freedom Ring organized parallel concerts to fundraise for institutions providing humanitarian aid in Gaza, as well as to generate conversation and support. Since then, several more concerts across Berlin, Manchester, Munich, and Lisbon have raised approximately 45.000€ for various charities and foundations, such as Medical Aid for Palestinian, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund and Medico International. 

These concerts were organized as a response to the classical music industry’s relative silence regarding the ongoing human casualties and loss of life in Gaza, in the hopes of not only showing support for the people of Palestine and those that are suffering, but of starting a conversation within the sector about this world event. Make Freedom Ring has mobilized musicians and artists to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians through music with the help of media coverage and the public.
