Feminist Legal Perspectives 2020: Between Two Countries -
Description
THIS SEMINAR WILL BE DELIVERED ONLINE.
After registration you will recieve an email containing the link to the webinar.
The seminar will highlight issues faced by vulnerable women who find themselves “between countries” in family law Hague Child Abduction disputes.
There are many issues and challenges for women without permanent residency status (and ready access to Legal Aid and housing services) in trans-Tasman cases who find themselves navigating 2 court systems with 2 lawyers and huge expenses.
In the recent decision of Walpole, Secretary Department of Communities & Justice [2020] FamCAFC 65, the Full Court of the Family Court of Australia (Watts, Ryan and Aldridge JJ) allowed an appeal against orders made on 29 November 2019 requiring two children aged three and two years to return to New Zealand. This seminar will also look at applications made on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
