  At Beyond Sight: Ben brings both lived and professional experience of how communication, inclusion and opportunity can strengthen participation and connection in community sport. Benjamin Rowe has more than 25 years’ experience across disability services, access and inclusion, community development and sports administration. A long-standing member of the Blind Sports WA Board, Ben brings both professional expertise and lived experience as a blind person to his work in creating stronger, more inclusive communities. Ben holds a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling and a Master of Business Administration and has a particular interest in inclusive sport, mental health and wellbeing, community participation and self-advocacy. Sport has played an important role throughout Ben’s life. He has represented Australia in goalball and continues to participate in a wide range of sports including tennis, soccer, AFL and golf. He is passionate about ensuring people who are blind or vision impaired have genuine opportunities to participate, connect, build confidence and take on leadership roles. Outside of disability and sport, Ben is also a professional musician, performing regularly across Perth and the South West. At Beyond Sight: Ben brings a powerful combination of lived experience, professional knowledge and sporting leadership, with practical insights into communication, belonging and creating environments where people with disability are genuinely included.

  Darren Stevens Deafblind Athlete, Coach & Remedial Massage Therapist

  Darren Stevens is a passionate multi-sport athlete, coach and remedial massage therapist who has built a life around sport, movement and challenging perceptions of what is possible for people with disability. Darren has Usher syndrome, which causes progressive vision and hearing loss, including significant tunnel vision. Rather than stepping away from sport, he has continued to find ways to participate, compete and develop his skills across an extraordinary range of activities. His sporting journey includes 10 years of soccer, three full Ironman triathlons, eight Half Ironman events, 10 half marathons, five years of blind golf, WA Blind Cricket and Blind AFL. His experience spans endurance sport, individual competition and team environments, giving him a broad understanding of the different adaptations and supports that can enable people with vision impairment to participate fully in sport. Darren also holds a Certificate IV in Sports Development, incorporating training in coaching, personal training, nutrition and sports officiating. Alongside his sporting involvement, he works as a Remedial Massage Therapist, bringing his knowledge of movement, physical wellbeing and the body into his professional life. Darren brings valuable lived experience to the Busselton seminar, sharing not only what he has achieved as an athlete, but what makes sport genuinely accessible, welcoming and sustainable for people who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind.

  Bradley Barclay is a Sport4All Inclusion Coach working across Bunbury and Capel, supporting clubs and communities to create more inclusive opportunities in sport. With more than 30 years in volleyball as a player, coach and administrator, Bradley brings extensive experience across community and high-performance sport. He has represented Australia in both sitting volleyball and para beach volleyball, including international competition. Volleyball Australia Following a lower-leg amputation, Bradley’s lived experience has further shaped his commitment to inclusion. He is passionate about challenging perceptions, removing barriers and helping sporting clubs create environments where people with disability can participate, contribute and thrive. At Beyond Sight: Bradley brings a practical club and coaching perspective on turning inclusion from a good intention into everyday practice.

  Raquelle Hannen-Williams Operations & Grants Lead – Blind Sports WA

  Raquelle Hannen-Williams is the Operations and Grants Lead at Blind Sports WA, where she plays a key role in developing inclusive sport and recreation opportunities for people who are blind or vision impaired. With experience across disability advocacy, community sport, program development and grant delivery, Raquelle is passionate about removing barriers and creating opportunities that build confidence, independence, connection and a genuine sense of belonging. Raquelle also brings an important family perspective to her work as the parent of a vision-impaired athlete. This combination of professional expertise and lived experience gives her a strong understanding of both the practical challenges families can face and the difference that welcoming, accessible sporting environments can make. Her work is centred on creating programs that are not only accessible, but meaningful, sustainable and shaped by the people they are designed to support. At Beyond Sight: Raquelle brings a practical and family-centred perspective on turning inclusion into real opportunities for participation, confidence and connection.

  Julie Henderson-Cavallo Program, Communication & Education Lead – Blind Sports WA

  Julie Henderson-Cavallo is the Program, Communication and Education Lead at Blind Sports WA, where she works across inclusive program development, community engagement, accessibility, education and communications for people who are blind or vision impaired. Julie brings together lived experience of vision impairment with a background spanning education, business, community development and advocacy. Her extensive business experience has given her a strong understanding of communication, project development, relationship building and turning ideas into practical, sustainable initiatives. Sport has also become an important part of Julie’s own journey. She participates in blind cricket, Blind AFL, blind and low-vision tennis, soccer and golf, has represented Western Australia in blind cricket and has been selected for the Australian Women’s Blind Cricket Team. Julie is passionate about making accessibility practical and embedded from the beginning, and about the role inclusive sport can play in building confidence, connection, independence and leadership. She is particularly interested in helping clubs and organisations move beyond simply being “open to everyone” towards creating environments where people with disability are actively welcomed, understood and included. At Beyond Sight: Julie brings the combined perspective of athlete, educator, communicator and program developer, supported by extensive business experience and a strong focus on practical, meaningful inclusion.

  Denise McMillan Inclusive Practices & High Performance – Bowls WA

  Denise McMillan has been a driving force for inclusive sport in Western Australia for many years. Through her role with Bowls WA, she works across inclusive participation and high-performance pathways, supporting opportunities for people with physical, intellectual, sensory and other disabilities to participate and progress in lawn bowls. Denise has chaired the State Sport Inclusion Network for around 15 years, bringing together sporting organisations, government, disability service providers and community organisations to strengthen inclusive sporting opportunities across WA. She has also led the BowlAbility program at Kardinya Bowling Club for approximately 15 years and is involved across vision-impaired and blind bowls, para bowls, bowling-arm programs and other inclusive initiatives. In 2025, Denise received WADSA’s Jeff Hollands Award of Enterprise, recognising her long-standing advocacy and leadership in advancing inclusive participation across Western Australian sport. At Beyond Sight: Denise brings extensive practical experience in helping sporting organisations move from wanting to be inclusive to creating real, sustainable opportunities for people with disability.
