This webinar shares insights from a Queensland Government-funded study, drawing on interviews and focus groups with social enterprise leaders. Rather than offering prescriptive solutions, this session highlights lived experiences and practical strategies leaders are using to support their wellbeing. It’s an opportunity to reflect on your own journey, connect with peers, and consider future steps to enhance personal and organisational sustainability

Led by Dr Aastha Malhotra, a pracademic - someone who bridges academic research with real-world practice - this session will also feature UniSQ students involved in the study. Dr Malhotra’s research focuses on integrating social impact with health and wellbeing outcomes, particularly in collaboration with marginalised groups such as migrants, refugees, and communities in regional, rural, and remote areas. Together, they will share findings and reflections from their exploration of wellbeing experiences among social enterprise leaders.

About the Speakers
👤 Dr Aastha Malhotra
Dr Aastha Malhotra specialises in insupporting social purpose organisations and social enterprises to navigate complex change while amplifying impact through strategic planning and evaluation. Her work is grounded in over 15 years of global experience, including designing rehabilitation programs in Tihar Jail (Asia’s largest prison), advancing inclusive employment for people living with HIV in Canada and co-creating entrepreneurial solutions with marginalised multicultural communities in Queensland. She has also partnered on several strategic readiness projects across inclusive employment, disability support, disengaged youth, family services, and refugee settlement - bringing an innovation-focused approach to addressing systemic challenges.
As a Senior Lecturer and Higher Degree Research Coordinator at UniSQ, Aastha shapes curriculum, mentors’ researchers, and leads applied research projects. She also leads the Social Innovation and Inclusion theme under UniSQ’s Centre for Health Research’s Health Equity Stream, merging health outcomes with social impact.. Her accolades include UniSQ’s Excellence Award in Educational Leadership and ANZAM’s Excellence Award in Promoting Learning & Teaching.
