BGSOBA Professional Networking - Finance

The Brisbane Grammar School Old Boys' Association cordially invites you to its Finance Professional Networking Evening on Thursday, 17 October 2024 at Vincents.

Come along and make valuable connections, build your strategic network, strengthen relationships, find mentors and mentees, uncover opportunities, and learn from the expert panel about all aspects of financial markets and investment banking.

The format of the evening will consist of a panel discussion followed by a Q&A.

The rest of the evening will provide a chance to meet and network with the panellists and fellow industry colleagues.

Drinks and substantial canapes will be served on the evening.

Philip Noble '82

Philip Noble '82

Philip has more than 35 years’ experience in the international banking and finance sector and led Queensland Treasury Corporation as Chief Executive from 2010 to 2022. In this role, Philip oversaw the State of Queensland’s multi-billion dollar funding program and balance sheet, managing key relationships with global and domestic institutional investors and government stakeholders to deliver financial outcomes for the State.

Prior to joining QTC, he was Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income Division Australia and New Zealand at Credit Suisse in Sydney, where he had responsibility for establishing and delivering a ‘full service-provider’ business model for Australian and New Zealand clients.

Philip has held previous senior positions with Deutsche Bank in Sydney as their Director of Global Markets, and with Bankers Trust Australia in Melbourne and Sydney, as their Vice President of the Financial Markets Group. Philip also held a number of board positions at Credit Suisse and was a member of their Executive Management Committee in Australia.

Eddie Barrett '96

Eddie has nearly 25 years’ experience in financial markets across an array of asset classes including exotic derivatives, debt, listed equities, and private markets. Eddie’s experience dates back to his initial days working in London within global institutions such as Maple Securities and on the trading desk at Merrill Lynch.

Beyond his high-octane life on the trading desk, Eddie has held roles across various private equity engagements as both an investor and operator of private businesses. One of his more significant private market engagements was in the executive management team at UniLodge Australia where he held the positions of CFO & separately COO throughout his seven years as a key driver of the business.

Today, Eddie sits across various boards in an advisory capacity. Of note is his role at one of Australia’s highest acclaimed multi-family offices, Alvia Asset Partners, where he sits as a Director on the Board & as a key member of the group’s Investment Committee.
