Return of the Big Otway Tree Plant
Event description
Join the Conservation Ecology Centre and the Southern Otway Landcare Network, together with Marengo-Barham Catchment Landcare group, as we bring back the Big Otway Tree Plant in 2025!
It's definitely about tree planting, but perhaps even more about connection and building environmental hope with like-minded friends in a gorgeous setting: Cape Otway.
We've teamed up again with our lovely friends at Bimbi Park, which means you can turn your tree planting into a weekend's camping retreat! All you have to do is contact Bimbi Park and say you're joining the tree plant, and your camping is FREE! (For those less hardy souls, Bimbi Park has a fabulous selection of cabins you can choose from, at very reasonable prices.)
Meet the CEC and Landcare crews at Bimbi's camp kitchen at 9am with all the gear you'll need to be out in August weather. We'll walk over some previous planting sites to see how they're faring, then get our hands into the soil to plant some canopy trees.
Afterwards, dinner is ON US! We'll share a meal (and hopefully a campfire!) as we discuss reasons to be hopeful for our ecosystems... one of them definitely being the return of the Big Otway Tree Plant!
This event is made possible by the Victorian Government through a Victorian Landcare grant.
