Big Questions, Little Hearts: How To Talk About Death With Our Children
Event description
Coffs Coast End of Life Care is honoured to present a special community workshop designed for parents and caregivers who want to feel more confident when answering life's big questions from little ones.
Conversations about death can catch us off guard, leaving us searching for answers we may not even have ourselves. At times, the delicate task of explaining death comes about because of sad circumstances unfolding around our children. Recognising that life has a beginning, a middle, and an end, we've thoughtfully created this workshop to offer practical support for these tender conversations concerning life’s end with our young children.
Using insights from developmental psychology, the workshop explores children’s understanding of death while also addressing your own feelings about mortality. You’ll be offered practical strategies, easy-to-use activities, and specific resources depending on your unique circumstances.Â
Rather than avoiding these conversations or winging them, this workshop will leave you feeling informed and empowered to respond with confidence. Most importantly, it nurtures authentic, safe, and truthful exchanges with the children in your life.
NOTE: This workshop is for parents and caregivers - Not for children.
Attendees will leave with valuable resources, practical skills, and, most importantly, the confidence to navigate discussions about death with children. This workshop will be held on 9th November, 10 am–12 pm at the Wilderness Yoga Studio, Korora. Spaces are limited, and we ask that children please not attend to ensure parents can explore the topic freely and unfiltered in preparation for their little ones.
For more information, please contact Lauren Clarke on 0401 578 412 or Rani Foreman on 0473 452 533 or rani.foreman@gmail.com.
Note: Our priority is to make this workshop a safe space for those who need it most. While we aim to cover venue, resources, and lunch costs, we don't want financial hardship to be a barrier. If you or someone you know could benefit from attending but can't afford a ticket, please reach out to Lauren or Rani.
