Event description
At Big Scrub Forest School we believe in nurturing children and giving them the time and opportunity to lead their own play and learning experiences. We see our roles as long-term mentors as opposed to deliverers of a curriculum. We are guided by nature's seasons and rhythms and we plan each session based on the children's interests and needs.
Our weekly outdoor recreation and nature play program is crafted for children aged 3 to 6 years and is facilitated by qualified Forest School mentors.
Outdoors all day, we follow a gentle, relaxed rhythm which includes time for free play, exploring, singing, making up stories, playing games that open up our senses, growing food, cooking, creating and tinkering with our hands, and even making our own toys.
Some of the activities on offer during the day might include:
- nature based art
- mindfulness activities - such as yoga, sit spot, awareness games
- interacting and caring for our farm animals
- identifying bush tucker, wildcrafting
- cubby/shelter building
- storytelling
- food preparation and cooking
- climbing trees
- making plant medicine
- building fairy houses and bug hotels
- gardening, tree planting, caring for native flora
- and so much more...

9:00 am - 1:30 pm
COST
$70 per child, $50 for siblings, per session.
Not sure if this program is for you? We are giving new families the option to sign in for a three weeks' trial to see if this approach meets for your family and your child's needs.
Please note that the three weeks must be consecutive. After this time, you will be able to either continue for the rest of the term, or cancel. No refunds offered for no show.
