Bike Packing: How to bike the Silk Road Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan
Event description
Come join us for an evening with Rufus Wenlock, fresh from the Silk Road Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan to talk about how he made it to third place in one of the most challenging cycle races in the world!Â
The Silk Road Mountain Race is a 1900km, one-stage cycle race through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan (totalling around 30,000m of elevation!). It is fully self-supported (with large distances between opportunities to resupply), there is no time limit (they expect it to take about 14 days!) and there are also no prizes (aside from bragging rights!?). Hardcore, right!?Â
So, we're super stoked to have Rufus in store to talk all things Silk Road Mountain Race, but also, all things bikes and bike packing! He'll be bringing the bike he rode (there's a story behind that too!), talking about how he prepared for an epic mission like this, what gear he took, what it was like on trail (the ups and downs of cycling at altitude!), the amazing people he met, the landscape he saw and everything in between! He'll have video clips, pics and of course, there will be time to ask questions! All hosted by our very own Ant (a mad-as keen biker himself, so the perfect person for the job!) who's also coming with his own list of questions!Â
It's gonna be an epic evening full of adventure stories and bikes!
We can't wait to see ya on the night!Â
