Bike Ride - Main Yarra Trail - Ivanhoe to Templestowe
Event description
The Catholic Walking Club of Victoria invites you to join them on a Bike Ride along the Main Yarra Trail from Ivanhoe to Templestowe and return. This event is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria.
That's right, not all bushwalking clubs simply bushwalk, there's other great adventures to be had, including a bike ride like this one! Enjoy riding along the Main Yarra trail to Petty’s Orchard for a morning tea break and toilets. All bikes, including e-bikes are welcome.
DISTANCE: Approximately 39 kilometres loop ride that will take 4 hours.
WHO IS THIS WALK FOR? Suitable for riders with a good level of fitness and riding experience.
CHILDREN AND PETS: This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the event, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home. Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.
AWT GRADE 3 (Medium): The ride is for riders with good riding experience, not beginning riders.
PACE: A steady pace with breaks for water, snacks and morning tea on the trail.
TOTAL ASCENT: Approx 60 metres. Mostly riding on undulating trails beside the river. Some hilly sections for short distances.
RIDE DESCRIPTION:
Riding will be on signed, sealed and un-sealed trails. The trail will be shared with pedestrians and dog walkers. The Main Yarra trail takes us along the river corridor through Yarra Bend Flats, Warringal Park and Westerfolds Park. We stop at a popular cafe at Petty’s Orchard for morning tea, then return along similar trails with some small variations.
MEETING POINT: Meet at the car park (free parking) at Chelsworth Park, Irvine Road, Ivanhoe at 9.15am for a 9.30am start. There are toilets here and it is suggested you allow enough time to visit these prior to the start of the ride.
