Hailing from Quirindi in regional NSW, singer-songwriter Billie-Jo Porter brings a sun-drenched mix of folk-tinged country and Americana to The Alternate Root Cafe.

Having travelled and played music around the world, Billie-Jo is back home and on the road with an intimate live lineup. Fresh off major festival stages like the iconic Deni Ute Muster, Gympie Music Muster, and Tamworth Country Music Festival —plus sharing stages supporting legends like Pete Murray and Thirsty Merc—she crafts songs that feel like an old friend coming over for a yarn.

Recorded with Golden Guitar legend Shane Nicholson, her debut album landed at #4 on the ARIA Country Chart and was crowned ABC Country Album of the Week.

Billie-Jo Porter is an Australian singer-songwriter whose music radiates warmth and authenticity. Raised in Quirindi, New South Wales, near the heart of Australia's country music scene, she grew up to the soundtrack of legends like Willie Nelson, John Williamson, Carole King, and Shania Twain, fueling a love of storytelling that would shape her life’s path.

After living and travelling across North America, a pivotal moment at a Canadian yoga festival inspired her to pursue music professionally. Returning to Australia, she collaborated with acclaimed producer Shane Nicholson to craft her debut self-titled album. The 12-track collection, released in 2023, blends country, Americana, and indie folk influences, delivering uplifting and introspective songs.

Billie-Jo's music has garnered significant attention, with her single Feels Like Us charting at #16 on Australia's Countrytown Hot 50 and earning airplay on AMRAP regional charts. She has also been a finalist in prestigious competitions, including the Toyota Star Maker and the Unsigned Only Music Competition.

Billie-Jo is working on her highly anticipated second album, which continues to pay homage to her rural roots and time abroad. It includes standout tracks like Round and Round (featured on Spotify editorial playlists 'Chilled Country', 'Fresh Finds Country' and 'Heaps Country'), Howl at the Moon and This Is Us Here — a heartfelt collaboration with Golden Guitar-winning artist Andrew Swift.
