    Event description

For this event we have teamed up with Soil Land Food to deliver an event that they have rolled out across Australia.

On-farm bugs and brews: biofertilisers, stimulants and inoculants

    1 Day

Learn to make biofertilisers and bioferments on farm.

In this hands-on 1 day workshop you will learn the theory behind fermentation based bioferments and biofertilisers. We also practise making a number of simple products including starter cultures, biofertilisers and a bioferment. Open source simple recipes and how to make an inoculated fermentation compost are included on the day. We explore

    • The types of biological products.
    • Aerobic and fermentation products
    • Fermentation: the essential principles
    • Making Fermentation based biostimulants, inoculants and biofertilisers
    • Using biologicals

    Our speaker

Simon Mattsson - Regenerative Farming Consultant/Extension. Simon is a cane/mixed crops farmer from Marian near Mackay in Queensland. Simon completed a Nuffield Scholarship on Soil Biology and is a pioneer of multi-species cover cropping in Australia. He has been a leader in the Australian sugarcane industry in the area of soil health and regenerative farming practices. With his ability to communicate and passion for helping other farmers change to more regenerative approaches, he has joined the Soil Land Food team to help with farmer extension and consultancy.

Simon makes 10,000 litres of bio-fertilisers and inoculant on his farm every year. Simon brings this practical knowledge not only of how to make these products but also how to apply it in a cropping situation.
