Tue, 13 May, 4:30pm - 6:30pm ACST

Event description

A school biodiversity garden provides a range of excellent learning opportunities for schools, whilst supporting native flora and fauna, providing cooling in urban spaces, and contributing to the improved health and wellbeing of students and staff.

In this professional development session, we will look at what is meant by biodiversity, elements of a biodiversity garden, unpack why you might want one at your school, how to go about designing the garden and choosing plants, and opportunities for incorporating the garden into curriculum/learning.

We will also have a short tour of the biodiversity garden at Avenues College, hear about their experiences transforming a degraded school oval, and have the opportunity for some hands-on activities.

Date: Tuesday 13 May
Time: 4:30pm – 6:30pm
Venue: Avenues College, McKay Ave, Windsor Gardens

Professional Development certificate, afternoon tea, resources to take home and ideas to build on to take back to your school will be provided.
