Biology Students - 2023 HSC Exam Preparation

This twilight workshop has been designed by an experienced HSC marker to best prepare students for the 2023 HSC. In this workshop, students will cover exam technique and strategy, particularly in a Module 8 context and finding links with other modules. Students will be:

• identifying overarching themes and interrelationships amongst the content
• addressing Working Scientifically
• unpacking difficult content
• addressing common mistakes and misconceptions
• developing strategies for extended response questions
• unpacking new practice questions
• evaluating sample responses
• learning what the markers are looking for

All students will walk away with a variety of resources.

Workshop Delivered by Lauren Hesse

Lauren Hesse is passionate about education and working with both students and teachers to improve their understanding of themselves as learners. She has twelve years teaching experience and has taught students from diverse social backgrounds, with a range of different abilities. Lauren works at Hunter School of Performing Arts in Newcastle, where she teaches Biology and Science Extension. She has extensive marking experience in Biology, including as a Senior Marker. Lauren is excited to share her experiences and skills with teachers and students through our professional learning workshops. ​
