Theory for HSC Biology Teachers (23/6)
Event description
This workshop is designed for teachers new to teaching HSC Biology plus those who would like to refamiliarise themselves with the content, background theory and make connections across the different modules of the HSC Biology syllabus. We will be unpacking:
- Hereditary
- Genetic Change
- Infectious Disease
- Non-infectious Disease and Disorders
- Opportunities for Depth Studies
In addition, we will connect with the 'assumed knowledge' from the Year 11 syllabus.
ACCREDITATION
Completing Theory for HSC Biology Teachers will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing standard descriptor 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
Workshop Delivered by Lauren Hesse
Lauren Hesse is passionate about education and working with both students and teachers to improve their understanding of themselves as learners. She has eleven years teaching experience and has taught students from diverse social backgrounds, with a range of different abilities. Lauren works at Hunter School of Performing Arts in Newcastle, where she teaches Biology and Science Extension. She has extensive marking experience in Biology, including as a Senior Marker. Lauren is excited to share her experiences and skills with teachers and students through our professional learning workshops.
