Event description

The Collective on Anti-Racism (COAR) is delighted to be taking over this incredible concept and host BIPOC Creatives Hangouts. Originally developed and hosted by the everything.i.am.not project (@everything.i.am_not), this event series invites BIPOC creatives of any discipline and skill to come together for conversations about absolutely anything and everything. This recurring event aims to foster a space for BIPOC creatives to find community with each other in what is a predominantly white space in Canberra.

We also welcome attendees to bring along anything creative that they would like to work on during the event – whether that be some yarn, paints, pencils, or a laptop.

What: A chill hangout space for BIPOC creatives.

Who: This event is open to anyone who identifies as Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Colour (BIPOC).

What to bring: Anything that allows for you to express your creativity, whether that be colouring pens, paper, notebook, paints, yarn, or a laptop.

Where: Blank Creative Co, located Ground Floor, 15 Moore St, Civic 2601. This venue has accessible parking at its premise, as well as bike racks outside of the venue. It is within walking distance from the London Circuit car park (5 minutes), the Alinga Street light rail stop (5 minutes). This venue is wheelchair accessible and step free, with fully enclosed, accessible bathrooms.

Catering, with gluten free and vegan options, will be provided. If you have any other dietary requirements, please contact us on COAR’s social media (@coar.cbr) or email us at coar.cbr@gmail.com.

This event will happen directly before our monthly discussion group, Roar with COAR, which is taking place from 12pm to 2pm at Blank Creative Co. Attendees are welcome to stay at Blank Creative Co and join the Roar with COAR discussion afterwards if they wish.

If you have any concerns or are interested in talking through anything more please feel free to reach out us on COAR’s social media (@coar.cbr) or email us at coar.cbr@gmail.com.

COAR acknowledges that this event will take place on the stolen lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Sovereignty was never ceded.

COAR commits to standing with First Nations People.

This event is supported by the ACT Government, through the Capital of Equality Grant.
