Join Master Birder and acclaimed Photographer Dave Gibson for an inspiring and educational dive into the art and craft of bird photography. In his talk, “My Approach to Bird Photography,” Dave will share insights from years of experience capturing birds in motion—especially the elusive beauty of birds in flight.

Whether you're a seasoned photographer or just starting out, this session will help you:

  • 📷 Improve your technical skills and fieldcraft

  • 🎨 Explore creative approaches and post-processing techniques

  • 🔧 Learn about gear, resources, and practical tips for shooting in the wild

About Dave Gibson:

Dave Gibson brings a wealth of experience in teaching and bird conservation. He has taught at prestigious institutions in Massachusetts, including Fisher College, MassBay Community College, and the Harvard Museums of Cultural and Natural History. In Virginia, Dave has worked with the Elizabeth River Project as a bird trip leader, teacher, educational consultant, and photographer. He has also collaborated with various other organizations.

A prolific writer and speaker, Dave has authored the birding profile for Chesapeake, VA, and contributed to the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council with his piece, “Every Bit of Wild.” His award-winning bird photography has been widely published, and he is an active contributor to eBird, where you can explore his impressive collection of photos and recordings.
