Bird Walk & Citizen Science Survey – Berridale
📍 Gegedzerick Travelling Stock Reserve, Berridale
🗓️ Sunday, October 19, 2025
🕗 8:00am – 10:30am

Join us for a relaxed morning birdwalk at one of Berridale’s beautiful Travelling Stock Reserves, and a hands-on citizen science session where you’ll learn how to use Birdata and iNaturalist to contribute valuable observations of local wildlife.

This guided session is led by Ricki Coughlan – bird expert, guide, and author, and offers a unique opportunity to gain practical skills in identifying birds and recording sightings that contribute to national biodiversity research.

Together we’ll explore Gegedzerick Travelling Stock Reserve’s open woodlands and grassy habitats.

🧠 You’ll learn how to:
• Confidently identify common and threatened local bird species
• Conduct a standardised bird survey using Birdata
• Record other wildlife sightings using iNaturalist
• Contribute to ongoing conservation efforts in your area
• Start or join monthly bird monitoring at key “home birding sites”

🌿 Plus: You’ll receive a free local native shrub to plant for bird habitat!

🎒 What to bring:
• Water bottle
• Sturdy shoes, hat and weather-appropriate clothing
• Smartphone or tablet (if you have one)
• Binoculars and/or camera

All welcome – suitable for all ages and experience levels.
