BirdCare Aotearoa Shedding Light on Seabird Fallout
Event description
BirdCare Aotearoa is currently rehabilitating hundreds of juvenile seabirds, rescued from across Auckland. Many only nest in Aotearoa, and have declining populations. They are all high-care patients, so we urgently need to raise awareness of the impacts of artificial lighting on birdlife.
Our friends at Pathfinder Asset Management have a stunning birds eye view of Auckland city!*
Connect over wine and cheese, as we share insights on seabird recovery from our Dept of Conservation-permitted native bird hospital. We warmly invite all nature-conscious kiwis, especially from the business community, to join the kōrero.
This hui will also feature kōrero from Annette Lees (acclaimed author of "After Dark," 2022 Ockham NZ Book Awards), Photography by Simon Runting (NZ National Geographic Wildlife Photography winner), Birds NZ, and the Dept of Conservation. We have also invited representatives from Vector, Precinct Properties and Sky City to engage in this hui.
Let's mahi tahi (work together) on a unique solution to protect our taonga.
