BIRDIE'S TREE - Early Learning Program

Disasters, such as floods, can be a scary and challenging experience for young children. Birdie’s Tree was developed by the Queensland Centre for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (QCPIMH) to help parents, caregivers and early childhood educators support babies and young children through challenging times. https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au/natural-disaster-recovery/

You are invited to attend the Birdie’s Tree Early Learning Program introductory workshop. This workshop will run for approximately 2 hours, and will cover:

  • An introduction to Birdie’s Tree and the Early Learning Program resources
  • How disasters and disruptive events effect babies and young children
  • The role of early childhood education and care to support children’s disaster resilience
  • Identifying signs of stress and trauma responses in very young children
  • Explore Birdie’s Tree and Recovering Together resources, including practical tips and strategies
  • Educator well-being and self-care
