Bushland Birding for Beginners
Event description
Learning how to look for and identify birds can feel a little overwhelming. Hunter Region Landcare Network are pleased to support bird-curious beginners by hosting Bushland Birding for Beginners, an event aimed to give young children and their families the opportunity to increase their birding skills.
We’ll discuss the use of binoculars (we have nice ones you can use for the day); what to look for when you see a bird; and some of the great places to go birding in the Cessnock region. Then we will go on a guided bird walk with experts from Hunter Bird Observers Club.
A few things to note:
- There are no toilet facilities at the location. The closest amenities are at the BP service station (a 2 minute drive down the road)
- We will have some pairs of binoculars to lend out on the day, but please bring your own if you have them
- All children must be accompanied by an adult
- Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent.
