Description

Take an early morning walk with us along foothill and arroyo trails in Pasadena, where you'll get to know more about the birds that call this place home. On this guided nature walk, your guide will identify local species and explore the important relationships they share with native plants and other wildlife. Learn which birds are year-round residents, which are just passing through, what they love to eat, and how native landscapes help keep these connections strong.

The exact meeting location will be emailed to class registrants two days prior to the event. Please watch your emails.

This class will take place outdoors on uneven terrain. We strongly encourage wearing closed-toe shoes, long pants, layers for variable weather, and bringing sun protection and a water bottle. Binoculars are welcome.

Diego Blanco is a birder and naturalist from Los Angeles, California. He enjoys hiking, camping, and documenting biodiversity through photography and illustration. Diego graduated from Cornell University in 2022 and has worked as an administrative assistant at the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants, where he taught field sketching and bird identification classes. He currently works as an outreach and research assistant studying birds in the Moore Lab of Zoology at Occidental College.

📅 Refund Policy: Refunds are available up to seven days before the event. Within seven days, refunds and credits are no longer available, as this helps us plan responsibly and support our instructors. Thank you for your understanding.

☔ Rain or Shine Policy: Our classes generally take place rain or shine. We do not cancel classes simply because rain is forecast; however, the safety of our students, instructors, and staff comes first. In the event of severe weather or unsafe conditions, we will evaluate the situation on a case-by-case basis and may modify, relocate, postpone, or cancel a class. If TPF cancels or postpones a class due to weather, registered participants will be notified as soon as possible and offered a refund or the option to transfer their registration to a rescheduled date when available.

🎟️ Enrollment Threshold for Classes: We require a minimum of five participants for a class to run; when enrollment falls below that number, we may need to cancel in order to responsibly cover program costs and maintain an engaging experience for those attending.
