The Australasian Bittern — one of Australia’s most secretive wetland birds — is returning to breeding wetlands across the landscape, and that means bittern booming season has officially begun! Despite its deep, foghorn-like call, this Endangered species remains remarkably elusive, and there is still much to learn about its ecology and habitat needs.

To celebrate the season, we’ll be hosting a Bittern Booming BBQ and Workshop on Friday, November 8th (time and location to be confirmed).
