Blackwood Hills Screening & Dinner - Ride for Education
Event description
Hear the Story. Fuel the Movement.
In Blackwood, the Adelaide foothills team with the support of the Blackwood Hills Circle of Friends will hold an event to support Muzafar at Blackwood Uniting Church (266 Main Road, Blackwood), on Saturday, 21st June at 7pm.
It will involved the screening of an award-winning documentary, The Staging Post with Q&A followed by a shared Afghan meal and French desserts.
The Ride For Education campaign will see Muzafar cycle 4000km from Maleny to Adelaide, over 30 days, visiting communities and supporters along the way in June.
Muzafar, a former Hazara refugee who was forced to flee Afghanistan for his safety, is passionate about raising awareness and support around education for women and girls in Afghanistan.
The epic 4000km, which coincides with Refugee Week 2025, aims to raise $250,000 to support eight schools, 130 teachers, and over 2,000 students across seven countries through Cisarua Learning. Founded in 2014, Cisarua Learning began as the first refugee-led school in Indonesia and has grown into a holistic refugee support organisation. While all the schools are based in Indonesia, they serve refugees from many war-torn countries and provide far more than just education—offering a comprehensive resettlement program. Over the past decade, students have graduated with internationally recognised certificates, with many returning as teachers to continue the cycle of education.
