Live4Life Southern Grampians - Youth Mental Health First Aid (Y MHFA)

This is a Blended Face-to-Face course consisting of self-paced online eLearning (5-7 hours), followed by a one day (7 hours) face-to-face session. 

Shortly after you have registered for the course, you will be contacted by the Course Instructor who will provide you with the necessary details to be able to access your online eLearning modules though Mental Health First Aid Australia. You will also receive a coupon to allow you to order a Youth Mental Health First Aid Manual which can be posted to your nominated address at no extra cost. 

You need to complete the self-paced online eLearning prior to attending the face-to-face session. 

Face-to-Face Session - Tuesday 15th October 2024 at 8.45am - 3.45pm (Hamilton Base Hospital - Education Centre/Seminar Room)

What the course covers

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults about adolescent development and the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in young people, including crisis situations.

Topics covered include depression, anxiety, panic attacks, eating disorders and suicidal thoughts and behaviours.

You will learn how and where to get help when a young person is developing a mental illness, what help research has shown to be effective and how to provide first aid in crisis situations. Read more about the course.
