Event description

What is it like to spend a night in a coal bucket, and why do people do it?

Find out about direct action against extractive industries in this evening of short films and group discussion, hosted by Blockade Cinema for the 2025 Climate Action Festival.

You’ll see brand new film footage of the Denniston Plateau protests alongside short films of direct actions across Australia. Blockade Cinema is an eight-year-old venture run by Aotearoa-born documentary-maker Crusty, who will guide discussion on the night and answer any burning questions you may have about direct action protest.

Crusty is hosting these community events across the country, and the Nelson-Tasman community is fortunate to have an opportunity to see this footage before he travels back across the ditch.

Koha appreciated.

This event is part of the 2025 Climate Action Festival. The full program can be seen here.
