CONTENT.NET.AU presents: Blood Lotus' Middle Of The Night Album Launch at the Norla Dome, Mission to Seafarers.

Live sets by Blood Lotus (with Kuya Neil, Voidhood and Zhi Ma), with supports from Nū and Sui Zhen.

Saturday 26th September 2026

Doors 7pm, Music from 8pm.

"With musical nods to FKA twigs, Kelela and Arca, Middle Of The Night is a borderless record that fuses experimental electronic music, alternative R&B, avant-garde pop, and traditional Chinese melodies. Pushing beyond conventional genre parameters, the record is shaped by Blood Lotus' interest in the concept of Asia-futurism: a creative framework that reinterprets ancient musical histories through contemporary electronic music. Drawing on her studies of traditional pentatonic scales from musical traditions across Asia (particularly within Sino-linguistic regions) alongside her practice as a guzheng player and intimate vocal delivery, Blood Lotus reimagines these musical systems by translating them into a whole new sonic world.

Produced in collaboration with Kuya Neil and Voidhood, Middle Of The Night was written between Melbourne and Taipei, emerging almost entirely in the middle of the night through the process of voice notes containing lyrics and melodies assembled in bedrooms, hotel rooms, recording studios, on long walks, during late-night phone calls, and on public transport throughout several summers spent between the two cities. Bound by her strengths as a creative, the album layers intimate vocals, synths, strings, intricate rhythms, and textural production together to detail the complexity of transition and human emotion."

Lineup

  • Blood Lotus

    Blood Lotus

Blood Lotus is the music project of Hannah Wu, who fuses experimental electronic, alternative R&B, avant-garde pop and traditional Chinese instruments to push the sonic parameters of genre. She constructs spectral worlds where the past and future collide in motion; intimate vocals flutter over shapeshifting beats, scaffolded by oscillating synths and glistening strings. With a focus on collaboration, she has worked with Kuya Neil and Voidhood to produce her debut album, slated to be released with CONTENT.NET.AU in 2026. She was featured by NME Magazine, Line of Best Fit, Mixmag and spotlighted by COLORSxSTUDIOS for releases from her debut album, Middle Of The Night. In 2026, she undertook the Lazy Thinking Artist Residency in Sydney and the CAMP Residency in France. She has performed at music festivals and venues in Australia, including Dark Mofo, Sydney Biennale, Strawberry Fields, Now or Never, Phoenix Central Park and Eightysix Festival.

  • Nū

Nū is an Ethiopian-Australian sound artist, vocalist and live coder whose work blends non-Western musical traditions, improvisation and Afrofuturism. Using Sonic Pi, strudel and her vocals, she creates immersive sonic worlds that weave elements of ambient, jazz, R&B and electronic music. Nū has performed debut EP, TECHNIFRO-185, internationally in China, Malaysia, the UK, Berlin and New York and nationally at Phoenix Central Park, the Powerhouse Museum (Sydney Observatory), Dark Mofo (Hobart) and Hopkins Creek Music Festival. Recipient of Sydney Opera House's Shortwave Commission, she scored the short film A Being, Of Course (dir. Kalu Oji), which played at the Opera House in January 2026.

  • Sui Zhen

    Sui Zhen

Becky Sui Zhen Freeman a musician and creative producer working across audio, visual and interactive mediums. Her musical project Sui Zhen examines loss on multiple levels, from the death of loved ones to the widespread societal tendency to disappear within the 1’s and 0’s of modern life's tech-driven rush. From the banal pastel dystopia of the Secretly Susan era’s music videos to the invention of Linda, a ghostly apparition in the Losing, Linda LP, Becky’s cinematic, surreal and staged landscapes situate her unique take on pop music within its own uncanny terrain. Becky’s most recent release is a collaboration with Chinese-Australian guzheng player and composer Mindy Meng Wang 王萌. Their debut collaborative record Origin of You centres around the continual shift in an individual’s understanding of identity and of the self – coming to terms with who you are, where you are from, and where you will go. It is about birth, life and death. It is also about transformation: from daughter to woman, woman to mother, outsider to friend.
