MEET OUR WRITERS:
Emma Richardson (she/they) is a writer and theatre-maker living on Kaurna land. Studying a BCA in Creative Writing at Flinders University, she writes predominantly short stories and works for the stage. She has devised and performed shows at Dream Big Children’s Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and the Adelaide Festival with theatre ensemble Expressway Arts. Emma’s monologue ‘It’s Not A Bad Word’ was published by Currency Press after attending Writing Place in 2019. In 2024 she attended ATYP’s National Studio. Emma is passionate about telling authentic queer stories that explore the full spectrum of the Queer experience.
Chelsea Fernandez is an emerging creative based on Kaurna land. Earlier this year, she was selected to participate in The Australian Theatre for Young People’s National Studio, a writing residency for emerging playwrights. Her play from this residency, ‘Casual Day’, was selected to be performed as part of the Intersection Festival in 2025. In 2023, Chelsea served as Editor-in-Chief of the digital fashion publication Fresher Mag, which she co-founded. During her time at university, she was involved in the Adelaide Uni Law Revue, where she wrote and performed in comedy sketches. She also acted in The Wonderful World of Dissocia (University of Adelaide Theatre Guild) and was the costume designer for Breakfast of Champions (Theatre Guild Student Society).
Taylor Fernandez is an emerging playwright and screenwriter based on Gadigal land. Taylor is interested in exploring philosophical questions through dark comedy, particularly from an irreverent and raunchy perspective. In 2022, she was awarded the Flinders University Young Playwrights’ Award by the State Theatre Company of South Australia for her first play, ‘Artifice Factory’. Her play ‘Order Is Truly A Beautiful Thing’ was performed in Australian Theatre for Young People’s Intersection Festival in 2024, and published by Currency Press. She is currently competing her Masters in Dramatic Writing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
Robert Baulderstone debuted as a writer and director in 2019’s Adelaide Fringe with ‘After Life: Conversations from a Hospital Waiting Room’. Since graduating from The University of Adelaide in 2022, he followed up with ‘DINK (Double Income No Kids)’ – directed by co-writer Beatrice Blackwell, which Robert produced at the 2024 Adelaide Fringe and re-mounted at Qtopia Pride Fest in Sydney. Robert’s screenwriting has also earned accolades, including awards at the 48-hour film festival in 2023 and 2024. His recent film ‘Gate/s’ received an honourable mention at the Sony Catchlight film festival in 2024.
