Day 1 (LD) HOME TO THE BLUE MOUNTAINS                                                                           Monday 26 May 2025

Welcome, onboard for a 5-day holiday to the stunning World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, a spectacular part of Australia's heritage, covering some 218,000 hectares of rugged beauty, a variety of terrain, and a diversity of microclimates and ecological wealth. Once our morning pickups have been made we head south to Ourimbah for lunch at the Ourimbah RSL Club.  Our journey this afternoon takes us into the mountains.  On arrival, we head to Lithgow where we can settle in as this will be home for the next 4 nights.

Day 2 (BLD) THE BLUE MOUNTAINS                                                                                                                  Tuesday 27 May 2025

This morning, we wake to the freshness and beauty of the Blue Mountains. First, we enjoy the sights of the nearby Govetts Leap Lookout with its breathtaking views of the Grose Valley and Bridal Veil Falls.  We then take the scenic Cliff Drive towards Katoomba and stop to admire Echo Point and the mystical Three Sisters, a rock formation surrounded by Aboriginal Dreamtime Legend.  We spend the day at Scenic World. On arrival, we take a ride on the Scenic Railway, the world’s steepest incline railway. We descend 415m down the escarpment at a gradient of 52 degrees and travel through the tunnel and ancient rainforest. When we disembark, we walk the 300m rainforest boardwalk to connect with the Flyway platform. The Scenic Flyway is the steepest aerial cable car in Australia. It will take us on a 545-metre ride up through the World Heritage Listed rainforest of the Jamison Valley. Our final adventure at Scenic World is to join the Scenic Skyway to take the journey 270m above ancient ravines and dazzling waterfalls. Returning to our accommodation we stop at the village of Hartley. The Hartley area provides a great insight into NSW settlement and early Australian History with some wonderfully restored and operational historic buildings. The fine example of colonial architecture allows you to imagine the convicts, magistrates, and members of the public passing through its doors, we have arranged a guided tour of the Hartley Courthouse. Later this afternoon we return to our accommodation with time to relax before dinner.

Day 3 (BD) LITHGOW & SURROUNDS                                                                                        Wednesday 28 May 2025

Today we explore the town of Lithgow. Beginning with a stop at the Visitor Information Centre, we are joined on the coach for a guided tour of town. Following our tour, we visit Eskbank House constructed in 1842 in traditional Victorian elegance and is one of the oldest residences in the Lithgow Valley. An impressive display of pottery, handcrafted at Old Lithgow Pottery is featured in the gallery. We have time to purchase lunch. Next, prepare to be fascinated when we visit the Small Arms Museum. Formed to celebrate the history of the Small Arms Factory and its achievements, it tells the story of British influence and the endurance of social hardships. Showcasing Australian manufacturing, it houses a comprehensive collection of experimental weapons. In later years, it also made sewing machines, sheep shearing handsets, handcuffs, and many other commercial items.  We head to the State Mine Heritage Park for a guided tour and talk about the former Lithgow State Mine. Our day is complete, we return to our accommodation to relax prior to dinner.

Day 4 (BLD) GARDENS, TEAPOTS, and HIGH TEAS                                                                                    Thursday 29 May 2025

We have a day full of unique experiences.  We head to the quirky Bygone Beauty’s Treasured Teapot Museum and Tearooms nestled in the village of Leura within the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area and home to the world’s largest private collection of tea wares. Everywhere we look we see an array of teapots: from the old to the new, elegant to outrageous, miniature to large, from Australia, America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. We’ll indulge in their ever-popular Devonshire Tea and are sure to find a one-of-a-kind gift or keepsake in the Retail Emporium following our tour through the museum. To stretch our legs, we have time to explore the Everglades Gardens, we see one of the most important historic gardens in Australia, considered by many to be unparalleled in the country for its unique design and historical significance. For lunch we make our way to the iconic Carrington Hotel, featuring understated elegance and a warm ambiance. This beloved Blue Mountains landmark offers a unique ambiance and a timeless elegance of a bygone era. Following lunch, we are taken on a history tour of this fabulous, elegant hotel.

Day 5 (BL) BLUE MOUNTAINS TO HOME                                                                                                                Friday 30 May 2025

Following breakfast, we make our way down the mountains to Penrith where upon our arrival, we board the Nepean Belle for a luncheon cruise on the Nepean River, with the opulent scenery of the Blue Mountains National Park around us. The Nepean Belle is a romantic old-world style Paddlewheeler.  Reflecting the grace and charm of yesteryear, the "Belle's" interiors are beautifully paneled with stained timbers featuring cedar and teak.  Sit back and relax as we now head for home after a wonderful holiday traveling with friends.
