There are countless examples of how blues and gospel have crossed paths. Many of the most famous blues songs and musicians come from the gospel tradition. Making their festival debut, The HopeTones connect directly to this rich heritage, add modern grooves and bring a new, exciting funk-blues sound to Nelson. Expect driving beats, fine singing, wailing harmonica and soulful slide guitar. The blues according gospel! featuring Adele Terrill, and Brendon Johnson on lead vocals; Simon Terrill driving the beats on drums; Asher Harris holding down the bass line, Paul Denny making the harmonica wail with Steve Mitchell on slide, guitar and vocals.

Featuring Cindy Muggeridge, with banging boogie blues piano style underpinned by her solid left hand chops. Kate Marshall is a master on the fiddle and Marion Carter lively on the sax, the instrumental interplay between these two is outstanding at times. This is all pinned down by Anje Gliderman a fabulous and very lively and engaging drummer. There is a large amount of original content, all taking turns at lead vocals, with lush BVs.
