Board Builder Workshop Series

The Board Builder series is for people who have not yet completed governance training, are new on their Boards or are aspiring board members.

On these virtual, live workshops with LEAD NFP governance experts you will learn with and from others on Boards, ask relevant questions and apply what you are learning in the real world of your not-for-profit organisation.

Participants receive a certificate on completing five out of the six sessions in each series. Sign up for the series of six workshops for $295 plus GST, or $59+GST for each session.

If finance is a barrier please contact us as we have some scholarship funding available. 

Enrolled participants may substitute another member of their organisation if they can’t attend

Board Builder #1: Being on Board  
When: 6:15pm-7:45pm, Tuesday 9 March 
You will learn about: The purpose of Boards and why we have them, the various types of Boards, and the sort of work involved in governance. 

Board Builder #2: Foundation of a Successful Partnership 
When: 6:15pm-7:45pm, Tuesday 6 April 
You will learn about: Getting the balance right between governance and management. Who does what and where the lines of responsibility fall, including officer roles such as Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer .

Board Builder #3: Toeing The Line 
When: 6:15pm-7:45pm, Tuesday 11 May  
You will learn about: Compliance requirements and obligations of individuals and Boards, legal structures, and ways of managing conflicts of interest.

Board Builder #4: Hooking The Good Ones 
When: 6:15pm-7:45pm, Tuesday 8 June  
You will learn about: Recruiting and retaining the right people to your Board as well as how to evaluate and upskill your Board members’ own governance abilities.

Board Builder #5: Know Your Numbers 
When: 6:15pm-7:45pm, Tuesday 6 July 
You will learn about: How to read your Board’s Financial Report, what to look out for and what to ask questions about. Who is responsible for what, as well as accountability, monitoring and controls.

Board Builder #6: Meetings That Matter   
When: 6:15pm-7:45pm, Tuesday 3 August 
You will learn about: Ways to ensure Board meetings are productive, effective and make the most of the intelligence around the table.
