Boatyards and Bays: The History of North Sydney’s Working Waterfront

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join authors Randi Svensen and Dr. Ian Hoskins for a fascinating exploration of the history of North Sydney’s working waterfronts.

One hundred and twenty years ago the beautiful vice regal motor yacht Lady Hopetoun was slipped from Ford’s yard in Berrys Bay. It was one of many fine vessels built on the North Sydney waterfront from the 1830s, and remains sailing to this day. But Berrys Bay hosts the last remaining commercial boatyard in the area.

Randi is the author of three books on maritime history, the latest of which is A Changing Tide: the History of Berrys Bay. Dr. Ian Hoskins is the North Sydney Council Historian and author of Sydney Harbour: a History which will be republished in December 2022.
